This Sunday Workday we are planning on working on the greenhouse and also doing a lot of planting. Come join us!!!! Starting arond 10 until 2. Potluck welcome :)
It has been so long that we have updated this news feed with new information!!! My appologies sincerely! We have been doing a lot in the Kresge Garden lately, starting with a whole new sweet crew of homies that have been coming regularly. It has been so fun to make new friends in the garden this quarter- it has been my favorite part :) Other than the raspberries and pineapple guavas of course. The fall harvest has been mostly eaten, we produced tons of squash, tomatoes, basil, peppers, arugula, lettuce, chard, collard greens, rasberries, pineapple guavas, herbs, eggplant, and so much more my tummy enjoyed. We are working on cover cropping right now, and have cover cropped all of the Kresge side and almost done with the Porter side. We have gotten a crew of Porter gardeners who we are stoked to team up with and create a huge Westside Garden Co-Op. Sweet!!!!!! We have been working on the greenhouse too, so come on down this week and checkitallout!!!!
So far away from the garden, I sit and wonder how it is feeling............
For all of the co-op members who are not in the garden for the summer, we would love for the Summer Gardeners to post some pictures and updates! Email us pictures and stories! Wow- cannot believe how lucky we are to have such a supportive and generous staff that are so down for our gardens! Some folks from Kresge and a few Porter gardeners went to the Porter Senate a few nights ago to talk about the Porter fence. The Porter Senate has given us enough money to be able to buy the materials for the fence.
Kresge Garden is especially excited to get this fence up and hopefully excite more Porter kids about THEIR OWN GARDEN!! Porter kids reading this- hope we see you at the fence building workday which date is TBA. Just got an invite about the Stevenson Garden Inauguration that will be happening May 18th, 5-7 pm at the Stevenson Garden which is located on the knoll. After a lot of preparation and long days out in the sun, the Stevenson Garden is in full bloom and ready to be shown to the rest of the community! The Kresge garden is STOKED to have a new member of the campus wide garden revolution, so we extend this event to share this excitement and support the Stevenson Garden and gardeners! Bring a picnic blanket to the Knoll to honor the garden and those who made it happen, like PTAGS, CSC, faculty mentors, and of course the gardeners! Hope to see you there!
> Come see us at out Student Garden Market Cart at the Fair Trade Marketplace on Monday May 16th from 11am-5pm at the Baytree Bookstore!! We will have fresh goodies from the garden and opportunities to connect with the growing garden community
> Another meeting going on with the Alliance of Student Gardeners, a gathering/celebration on Sunday May 22nd at Noon in the new and beautiful College 8 Garden. This is another opportunity to connect with other gardeners committed to gardens all across our campus! Start blogging by creating a new post.
